Building your supplier integrity framework

Integrity today is increasingly important in business, society and politics, alongside concepts such as Transparency and Accountbility. Integrity is key to maintaining trust which is in precariously short supply (Shahid and Azar). According to The Ethics Centre (2018) “across the world, there has been a precipitous decline in levels of public trust in institutions. In some cases, the decline has been gradual. In others, the fall has been sudden and shocking”. In the same way that organisations are expected to demonstrate integrity to their customers and society at large, the same is expected of their suppliers. This article explores the concept of Supplier Integrity and its underlying components, as well as the legal, ethical and social drivers behind its importance. The purpose and six components of the Supplier Integrity Framework are also discussed, as is the relationship between this framework and other corporate governance artefacts. Continue reading
